Oakmont Mission Statement The Oakmont Elementary family's mission is to provide a safe, caring atmosphere of learning that challenges each child's potential, develops self-esteem and self-discipline,promotes clear communication, respects cultural diversity and teaches the use of good study skills and habits, thereby fostering successful life-long learners. Beliefs We believe that it is our responsibility as facilitators to: 1. Recognize each student's ability to learn. 2. Insure that student learning is the chief priority for all decisions made impacting the school. 3. Provide developmentally appropriate opportunities for each student socially, emotionally, physically, creatively and academically to attain the fullest extent of his/her potential. 4. Develop a safe, caring atmosphere of learning supportive of each student's unique needs. 5.Enable students to become confident, self-directed, life-long learners through a commitment to continuous improvement. 6. Enhance student's self-esteem by positive relationships and mutual respect among and between students and staff. 7. History and Demographics of Oakmont Oakmont Elementary was established in the New Deal community when Oakland and Fairmont consolidated in March of 1953. The school served as a K-8 institution from 1953- 1973. Today we serve our community as a K-5 school. In 1996 an addition was constructed to increase the capacity of our school. The addition created a library and three new classrooms along with handicap accessible restroom facilities. Our enrollment is currently 115 students. The staff is composed of 16 certified faculty members and 12 support staff employees. Location Oakmont Elementary is located in Sumner County, Tennessee. Sumner County is located in Northern Middle Tennessee, just minutes north of Nashville. Gallatin is the county seat. The school is located between White House and Portland at 3323 Hwy 76.
What Makes Us Special? Oakmont Elementary is the smallest school in Sumner County. Our staff has the ability to influence students in a way that larger schools cannot do. We concentrate on making each student feel special. The sense of community you will feel as you enter the building is wonderful.
